API Terms Of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the application programming interface (“API”) provided by Woodford Car Hire (Pty) Ltd (“Woodford Car Hire”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using the API, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not access or use the API.
1. Purpose and Permitted Use
The API is made available solely for the purpose of enabling authorized users to search, book, and manage vehicle rentals through Woodford Car Hire’s platform. You may not use the API for any other purpose, including scraping, reselling, benchmarking, or competing services, unless expressly authorized in writing.
2. Access and Credentials
API access is granted only to authorized users.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys and access credentials.
You may not share, sublicense, or transfer your credentials to any unauthorized party.
You are fully responsible for all actions performed using your credentials.
3. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to use the API to:
Scrape or extract pricing, availability, or content for unauthorized purposes.
Generate excessive or automated bookings or create a high rate of cancellations.
Provide fraudulent, false, or misleading customer or booking data.
Circumvent or breach security measures.
Access or use the API without proper authorization.
Use the API for any purpose other than the intended booking and rental integration.
Reverse-engineer, copy, or modify the API or any related systems.
Pass credentials or access to any third party without express permission.
Breach applicable laws, regulations, or the intellectual property rights of Woodford Car Hire.
4. Fair Usage & Rate Limiting
We may impose reasonable rate limits on API usage. Excessive or abnormal usage patterns may result in throttling, suspension, or termination of access. Limits are subject to change at our discretion to maintain system performance and availability.
5. Data Privacy & Protection
You agree to comply with all applicable data protection legislation, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). You may only process personal data obtained via the API for legitimate and lawful purposes related to rental transactions. You are responsible for implementing appropriate safeguards to protect such data.
6. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in the API, including underlying software, content, and data, remain the exclusive property of Woodford Car Hire. Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership or any right to use our intellectual property except as necessary for your permitted use of the API.
7. Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure
All non-public information, documentation, access credentials, technical specifications, and communications related to the API are considered confidential. You may not share or use this information outside the scope of your authorized API use without prior written consent from Woodford Car Hire.
8. Branding and Marketing Restrictions
You may not use the Woodford Car Hire name, logo, or branding in any marketing, communications, or user-facing materials without prior written authorization. You may not imply a formal partnership or endorsement unless expressly agreed to in writing.
9. Use of Third Parties
You may not use third-party contractors, developers, platforms, or systems to access the API on your behalf without our written permission. You remain fully responsible for any activity conducted via your API access, regardless of who performs it.
10. Monitoring and Audit Rights
Woodford Car Hire reserves the right to monitor API usage to ensure compliance with these Terms. We may request information regarding your usage or conduct audits, and you agree to fully cooperate with any such request.
11. Termination and Suspension
We reserve the right to suspend, limit, or revoke your access to the API at any time, for any reason, including (but not limited to) violation of these Terms, abuse, or behavior deemed harmful to our systems, reputation, or customers.
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The API is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. Woodford Car Hire does not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation of the API and disclaims all liability for any downtime or data loss.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Woodford Car Hire shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, or data arising from your use of or inability to use the API.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Woodford Car Hire, its affiliates, and employees from any claims, damages, or losses arising from:
Your misuse of the API;
Your violation of these Terms;
Any data or content submitted through the API.
15. Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance due to events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, cyberattacks, system failures, internet outages, or regulatory changes.
16. No Partnership or Agency
Nothing in these Terms shall be construed to create a joint venture, partnership, agency, or fiduciary relationship between you and Woodford Car Hire.
17. Survival
Sections related to Confidentiality, Intellectual Property, Limitation of Liability, Indemnity, and Governing Law shall survive the termination or expiration of your API access.
18. Amendments
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the API after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of South Africa.
